Intro
The brief was to create album artwork based on the music that was sent over to me.There were no constraints on genre, style, or format. The name of the album Cover was "LOST". The intention was to translate sound into a visual, capturing mood, atmosphere, or emotion rather than illustrating lyrics or narrative. The brief allowed complete freedom in interpretation, with the expectation that the final artwork would feel connected to the listening experience.
Observations
While listening to the music, I noticed that the emotion of being lost did not feel dramatic or chaotic. It wasn’t loud, expressive, or visibly painful. Instead, it felt quiet, controlled, and distant. The music felt restrained almost emotionally neutral but heavy at the same time. There was a sense of stillness, repetition, and observation rather than movement or progression. This created an emotional contradiction: everything felt calm, yet unresolved.

Redefined Brief
How can the feeling of being lost be visualized in a world that constantly observes, measures, and analyzes everything? Rather than representing loss as confusion or absence, I wanted to explore it as a condition one where clarity exists, but meaning does not. The intent was to create a visual that does not explain itself immediately. I consciously avoided: - Human Figures - Narrative Scenes - Expressive Colour Palettes The elements tend to force empathy or direct interpretation. Instead, I wanted the artwork to feel distant and observational something the viewer looks at, not something that looks back. The goal was to design a space where the listener could project their own meaning.

Lighting Exploration & Layout
Multiple lighting studies were explored: High-contrast lighting felt too dramatic Directional lighting implied narrative Soft, diffused lighting was chosen to maintain emotional neutrality and give a dreamy aesthetic. The laser became the only active visual element in an otherwise static environment.

Final Album Cover
The final artwork prioritizes stillness and restraint. Typography was kept aside to avoid interrupting the visual silence.

Canvas Extension
We went on to develop spotify canvas animations with the same visual element to adapt to spotify's newest format, trying to push out the songs identity.

I thank Mahin and Nitz, for reaching out and giving me the opportunity to work on this album.
